Rachel was born in 1974 in a small New England town. At age 3 she was orphaned when a tragic car accident took her parents life. She was raised by her aunt who eventually moved her to Seacover, WA. At a young age she found herself fascinated with the blade. She studied history and other languages in high school, all to learn more of bladed weapons and how they are made. She graduated from high school in 1991 as valedictorian of her class. She went on to college, choosing the local college to study at. She started taking fencing and swordplay classes. With her inheritance she slowly built a fine collection of swords, new and old. Her love of blades and natural agility made her one of the world’s premiere sword experts. One day when she was giving a lecture on swordplay and how best to use blades she met a young man who would change her view on the world. His name was Richie Ryan. He asked her out to dinner after the lecture and she said yes. He charmed her all thru dinner, although she kept a lot of her past quiet, he did get out of her that she was an orphan. He didn’t seem surprised to find that out and insisted she stop by and visit his friend, Duncan, who owns a local antique dealership. She was attracted to Richie, but being Rachel she waited a few days before going to Duncan’s shop. While there she noticed that Duncan was studying her curiously. She didn’t ask much, finding him to be a bit of a “pretty boy” and a bit to egotistical for her tastes, but she did purchase two swords from him that day.  Two days later she called Richie back and he invited her to his place for dinner. She took him up on the offer and proceeded to his house with her new swords in tow to show him, one secretly a gift for him. When she got to the apartments she parked in the alley. When she turned the engine to the car off she heard the clinging of two swords hitting each other coming from further up in the alley. She got out of her car and proceeded up the alley to find Richie fighting someone with swords. Confused as to why they would engage in swordplay in an alley she shouted out to Richie and the man fighting him turned to see her. Richie motioned for her to get down but in her confusion she didn’t understand. The man reached into his coat and brought out a pistol. She realized to late to duck for cover and the man opened fire on her, hitting her three times, twice in the chest and once in the arm. She fell down as the man turned her way fully and took off in a run. The last thing she remembered was Richie kneeling down next to her and picking her up. When she awoke she was lying in an unfamiliar bed. She sat up with a start, screaming. Richie hurried into the room wrapping his arms around her but she pushed him away from her. She shot off a million questions, especially asking why she was still alive. Richie answered all her questions slowly, not leaving anything out. All the while this was going on Duncan arrived, having been called by Richie after the incident, to help. They both offered their services as teachers but she refused both citing that she already was an accomplished swords master.

A year went by and Rachel and Richie grew closer together, in what one might call love, but then drifted apart again. Rachel wanted something he could not provide; she wanted someone she felt as if she didn’t have to protect. Ever since her parents died Rachel had grown a fierce sense of duty, as if all those she cared for were under her protection. When an immortal came to challenge Richie she was quick to step in and fight him herself. This is in part was a fear that the immortal might be better than Richie and she would loose him in the game. She also developed a friendship with Duncan but never more than that. She kids Duncan constantly about how she is never going to fall victim to the Duncan McLeod one sentence seduction of “I am Duncan McLeod of the clan McLeod”. Then she met a (to her) young man named Adam Pierson. In Adam she found someone who was as passionate about history as she was and someone who it seemed never had immortals visit to take off his head. She learned he had just lost his love, Alexia, and wasn’t looking for something serious. Of course at that point, after pushing Richie away, she wasn’t either. They spent a few months together as lovers; with Adam showing her the world that he never could show Alexa. She parted from him in Ireland and set off to see the world for herself.

She had lately been working for filmmakers, helping them train the actors and score the swordfights.

Note here, she does not know about the Watchers or Methos’ true identity. She also does not know any other cannon characters besides the ones listed above.

Rachel’s attitudes:

Richie: She still loves him deeply, probably always will, and has a hard time trying to seem cold to him. She really wants to spare herself the pain of ever loosing him, torn between wanting to be at his side every moment to “save” him from other immortals and be far away from him in the hopes that the heartache passes. Richie is mostly clueless to her inner battle where he is concerned.

Adam (Methos): Knows her probably better than anyone else does. In their month of traveling and friendship before that she allowed him to see her for the scared and inexperienced woman she really is. He knows why she left Richie and also why she seems to try to keep a distance between herself and others but also why she’s quick to take on any other challengers in the game; to save those she loves. She’s scared to loose people she feels close to but also scared to let them know how much she really cares, having lost her parents at a young age. She left him in Ireland because she needed space and he’s fully aware of it. Rachel kept in touch by writing letters to Adam as she saw the world for a few years but suddenly stopped, not really thinking what impression that might give.

Duncan: She plays with him, in a coy manor poking fun at his charasima with the opposite sex. All in all she likes him but rairly has much to do with him directly.

“Richie…you…you…arggghh…” –Rachel on one night when she was really trying to be mad at Richie, but it ending in a very nice kiss.

“Don’t try that whole I am Duncan McLeod of the Clan McLeod with me mister, I am one girl that doesn’t drop her skirt at the sound of a Scottish name.” –Rachel after she knew Duncan for a bit and saw his “moves” on women

“How could I say no to someone who has such a cute nose and can say come upstairs in five different languages?” –Rachel when Adam propositioned her
